We Insure Downtown Miami

Renters insurance · Miami-Dade

Your landlord insures the building. What covers you?

Your landlord's policy covers the building: the structure, the roof, the walls. It doesn't cover what's inside your apartment, and it doesn't answer if someone is hurt in it. Renters insurance is a separate policy. What it covers depends on the policy you choose.

What your landlord's policy does not cover

The landlord or the association insures the building. That policy isn't there for your laptop, your bike, or your furniture, and it isn't there if a guest is hurt in your apartment. That's what renters insurance is for.

Why renters come here

  • Independent agency

Not tied to any one company. Compares more than 200 carriers through the We Insure network.

    The agency's own count

  • Based in Miami

Buildings in Brickell, Downtown, and Miami Beach, and the paperwork they ask for.

  • The same person start to finish

Romina answers the email and takes the call. Nothing gets handed off.

What renters insurance covers

Generally three things. What each one covers, and up to what limit, depends on the policy you buy.

  • Your belongings

Furniture, clothes, electronics, your bike. A renters policy can cover what's yours inside a home you don't own.

  • Liability

If someone is hurt in your home, or you're responsible for damage to someone else's property, a renters policy can answer.

  • Somewhere to stay

If a covered loss makes the home unlivable, a renters policy can help with temporary housing while repairs happen.

Each of these depends on the terms of the policy you buy, including its limits and its exclusions. Nothing on this page is an offer of coverage.

Everything except the building

A renters policy covers what's yours and what you're responsible for, inside a building someone else owns. Your lease, the structure itself and flood don't go in there:

Why local and independent

An agency tied to one company can only give you that company's answer. An independent one compares. For a renter what matters most is that when the building asks for something specific in writing, someone reads it and knows what it means.

You're not insuring the building. You're insuring what's inside it, and yourself.

Questions from renters

What do you need from me to get started?
The form below is enough. Don't send documents yet; if anything else is needed, Romina will ask directly.
My building asked me for proof of insurance. How does that work?
Say so on the form, with the date they need it by if you have one. Proof is issued once the policy is active, so there's nothing to upload here.
Can my landlord require renters insurance?
It's common for leases to require it. Whether yours does depends on your lease, and Romina will read it with you. We're insurance agents rather than attorneys: for a legal opinion on what a landlord can require, that's a question for an attorney.
I already have a renters policy. Can you review it?
Yes. Pick the option to compare your current policy on the form. The review costs nothing and nothing changes unless you ask.
Do I have to buy anything?
No. Asking commits you to nothing, and in plenty of these you end up keeping what you already have.

Insure what's actually yours

It takes a few minutes, it commits you to nothing, and Romina reads what you send.

About this page

Coverage, requirements, and pricing vary by carrier and by policy. Nothing on this page is an offer of insurance, a statement that you qualify for any coverage, or a promise about price. What each policy covers is defined in its own terms. We Insure Downtown Miami is an independent agency, and a licensed agent confirms what applies to your situation.
